Portland native and resident Jason ‘Son’ Lambert is back with his second solo recording. The vision for Super Stereo Sale was to create an album that evoked the sounds of a varied and vintage record collection. Imagine trolling through vinyl bins and finding not just the obvious, but also hidden gems that time has forgotten. Styles simultaneously blend and stand on their own; mellow seventies California country soul, late sixties baroque with eighties synth washes, indie rock power pop. Familiar topics of love won and lost meld with topical songs about injustice, perseverance, and the power to music to take the listener to another place and time.
Super Stereo Sale was recorded in Portsmouth at the Electric Cave with producer and multi-instrumentalist Marc McElroy. Though technically a solo recording, the vision could not have been completed without contributions from local musicians. Drummer Elliot Heeshen of The Reverie Machine propels several tracks, while the lead guitar of Joshua Madore, and Charlie Kickham of Elroy, lend their unique playing styles to the recording. Dylan Sullivan of Jesse Dee’s band and Absolute Gentlemen holds down the sound throughout with his bass. Portland based sitar player David Pontibriand appears on two tracks, while New Hampshire pedal steel wizard Bruce Durr appears on one. Sullivan, McElroy, Sean McKenna, Heather Lutz, and Mara Flynn all lend their vocals to the recording.
